Light is just one of many different stimuli, it really has no extra special place in the universe. Folks tend to give it a bit too much credence, I assume because of various faiths and our strong reliance on visual stimuli to survive. To the blind person a black hole is no more impressive than a sun. Sure one generates heat and the other absorbs it but in the visual spectrum neither has any importance. Perhaps.
