Cognitive Dissonance
Is a tragic romance
of what is
and what is not
of what actually was
and how we think it was
Fatal fantasy
of a fictitious reality
leading wars and tragedies
prominently into now
Cognitive Dissonance
masked behind morality
greatest tragedy
to ever befall man
as it strips the ease
as much as it can
fed by frail minds
of all kinds
Cognitive Dissonance
sitting kingly
upon a throne of solid bone
as it commands those
watching mindless shows
making sure to hose
the fires of reality
from their rightful place
in our cognitive faculty
Colors
by Rico Penguin on Jun.08, 2009, under Poetry
What color are you
what identifies
tells the truth
and never lies
if you were washed
do your colors run
In the end
can red, yellow, and blue
display you
in such a away
that you are known
nothing left
to say
Should your hue
define you
or should the color
beneath that radiates
be the sign
that you’re sublime
What color are you
is it on your skin
or is it within
do those around
of similar sheen
decide what you mean
or do you awake
to each day
uniquely you
in ever way
Friends
by Rico Penguin on Jun.06, 2009, under Poetry
Friends
You make them
watch them
laugh and play
but then one day
they all go away
Grabbing, Grasping
The reigns again
making friends
for a new day
new life
new year
But as you fear
when you turn
they are gone
like the wind
gone so far
can see them
no more
Friends
you make them
break them
fake with them
but regardless
they’ll go away
Diamonds never change
by Rico Penguin on May.31, 2009, under Poetry
They say
Diamonds never change
Endless in beauty and shape
I say shenanigans
as I watch them change
again and again
Crumble quickly
to dust before me
how do rocks
differ from life
at our base
all is not alive
They say
waters will run
bringing in the new
and washing out
the old
but I wonder who
they should have told
Sickle celled
crystalline
turtle shelled
Endless in beauty and shape
Diamonds never change
They say
Into the Abyss
by Rico Penguin on May.28, 2009, under Poetry
Darkness crawls along
Serenading Sirens Song
Cat calls tricking
all listening
Ether Escher
peaking threshold
bursting blackness
ink palms press
Gripping tightly
beneath the soul
pulling you down
by your sole
Enter the abyss
darkness incarnate
light loves no one
here
Black Roses
by Rico Penguin on May.16, 2009, under Poetry
Most beautiful thing you’ll ever see
Black roses
Growing, flowing, silky sweet
Seeds splitting to bud
crawling forth from the mud
petals patter against the wind
a fleeting motion
of pure emotion
Gardener of the Gods
fields of feathers falling
from the sky
Angels molting for summer
sun beaming brightly
only for her
Thorn pricks upon the skin
can never deter
me from loving her
rarest of any flower
bathing in a silver shower
mercuric melody
of metal dancing delicately
all around me
Made It This Far
by Rico Penguin on Apr.23, 2009, under Poetry
Truly a tragedy
Worried more about
What we put in our Car
Than in our Belly
Absorbed into the Tele-
Vision blurred beyond use
Ignorance so great
It borders abuse
of Self
and those we love
Syrup on Sugar
Internal Scars
I wonder how
We made it this far
Praising Strategies
time bomb tragedies
building unreachable goals
and swallowing souls
as our air fogs
from burning Coals
Evolution a passing fad
more interested in
Hundred times translated
word of God
Children penalized
with sweet lies
minds being barred
I wonder how
We made it this far
Getting diced
utterly sliced
as tears flow
behind the guise
of the wise
oh what liars
they be
a billion bombs
couldn’t outdo
the damage
of fools
I wonder how
We made it this far
Faceless
by Rico Penguin on Mar.18, 2009, under Poetry
I feel so faceless
a mask
colorless
whiteness
I feel so spacious
empty void
devoid
divinely decided
rhapsody retired
this muses mire
digging deep
stealing all
that is me
how hard
it is
cold lonely
faceless
of Dreaming
by Rico Penguin on Mar.13, 2009, under Poetry
I dream
of dreaming
sleeping
Seeing
feeling fantasy
overtake me
I dream
of resting
watching worlds
whose beauty
best me
So why now
do I find
my wake
taking hold
of me
I dream
of dreaming
of 8 hours
of ivory towers
of frailty
turned to majesty
oh how I miss
utter bliss
of dreaming
"Dreams"
by Rico Penguin on Mar.10, 2009, under Poetry
Dogs Dream of Silver Seamed
Bones buried beneath
Mounds of magnificent Earth
Indeed everything
With mind wide enough
Finds the worlds of night
Dancing delightedly
Within their heads
Eyes closed upon hope
Hope
that darkness brings sweets
Nighttime Nectar
Left with the sunrise
Dreams build bridges
between streams
unseemly boundaries
raging waters
of failure and fixation
upon misfortune
Dreams conquer
the weakened state
that is life
below the sun
Someday maybe
build a thing
a contraption of sorts
cogs twisting within the clouds
smiles churning like ice cream
pouring into bowls of diamond
crystal clear shining stars
billions battling
Galactic Gallery
then we’d see
that dogs dream
